Last minute Clearly Besotted Challenge - colour theme

Well my last minute project:

My colour inspiration is from the latest Clearly Besotted Challenge #11.

I white embossed the lily image and the sentiment onto some watercolour paper and added colours to it,  I'm sorry the photos are crap, it's been so dark and cloudy in Edinburgh (typical), and I'd been waiting on some decent light to take some photos all day but, ah well, it's really pretty in real lift.

Have a lovely weekend! xx

Colour Me...Playful

Be honest with you, when I first saw this colour combo over at Colour Me challenge blog, I thought I wouldn't be able to make anything out of it, it's too hard.  Usually when I see a colour combo, I have a pretty good idea of what I can do, what sort of images/sentiments/layouts I can use to go with it, but this time, my mind was spinning so fast and yet still nothing came out of it.  For 2 days, I thought and thought and thought till my head was sore and DING...(like a bell rang in my head) I had an idea and this is what I came up with:

There is nothing technical about this card, finding the matching colour was very tricky as I don't own any Stampin'up inks, especially for the Cajun Craze, I had to blend some grey into some beige to make that colour, but I think that's a very close match.

Hope you like it.  And just then I had another card idea based on this combo, so I must dash and make it before I forget.  So, see you soon.

xx

Haha happy dancing...  Just a quick update, my card won the colour captivating of this challenge.  YES!!

Thinking of you (black and yellow)

Hello again (I said again because this is my second post for The Card Concept #11 - colour challenge), for my first one, please scroll down.

I'm not a fan of yellow at all, but I think yellow and black go really well, the colour combo is very striking and eye-catching.  After my first card using this colour theme, I really enjoyed using yellow on my card, and after all, it's not that bad a colour. So I went ahead, made another one.  A clean and graphic card:

Hope you like it.  Have a good weekend.

Happy birthday (black and yellow)

Over at The Card Concept challenge blog, the latest one is a colour theme:

To use yellow, black, grey (optional) and white (optional) on your project. and here is what I came up with:

A clean and simple birthday card.

Super quick and easy to make: just basic blending/inking over a stencil, stamped some flowers (Hero Arts), and a sentiment (which is also from Hero Arts), and that's pretty much it.

Hope you like it, and see you soon!

Seize the cupcake!

Hello!  Phew, this is actually my third post today, I've been catching up on making cards and posting them.  Finally I got some time tonight when the kids are in bed.

The card I'm showing you here is a simple birthday card.

I heat embossed a cupcake and coloured it in with my markers -- yeah, it damaged the tip of a marker (yuk), I should have listened to Jennifer McGuire's advice.  I also cut a tag shaped piece from a piece of vellum and quickly put together the card.  I distressed the card base a little bit in some orange colour to match the doily behind the cupcake.  By the way, this card is for Seize the Birthday challenge: tag your it!

Anyway, that's all for today, now it's time for a film and some cakes!

Night.

Flying by to say HI

Yay, it's CAS(E) this Sketch #77 time, and it's a GREAT one!

I think I can make a ton of cards just based on this one sketch!  Super fun!  So here is my card:

A super simple card, quick and easy to do which I like.  Hope you like it, see you soon!

Playing with water colours is fun!

Hi all.  Have you seen Colour Me Challenge blog's latest colour combo?  Oh my, it's such gorgeous colours.

Inspired by this picture and the subtle colours in it, I made a card using some water colouring technique.

The orchid stamp and the sentiment are from Clearly Besotted Stamps, I white embossed the image onto a piece of water colour paper.  I then squeezed some inks from my pink and blue ink pads onto my work surface and added tons of water.  I don't have any stampin'up ink pads, so these colours are the closest I could find.  Then I just coloured in my image.  I had great fun of doing that.

Hope you like it.  See you soon!

You rock

Hello.  Here is my second card made based on the current Retro Sketches challenge #115.

For my first card, please scroll down .  I wasn't very happy with that one, I think I got a bit carried away with my own design.  So here is another card which is closer to the sketch than the last.

Again super simple and quick to make.  The birds stamps are from Penny Black 'Tweet tweet', and I did a super quick colouring over them.  The sentiment stamp is from Fiskar's 'So much thanks'.  I hand-drew a speech bubble around the sentiment and cut it out.  Then added some sequins.
That's all for today.  Thank you for stopping by.

Good luck!

Birthday flowers - part 2

After my last card that I made for Seize the Birthday challenge, I really liked the design and how it had turned out, so I went ahead and chose another floral background patterned paper and made a similar card.  I'll also submit this one to the challenge.
Hope you like it.  Here is the photo:

Birthday flowers - part 1

Hello!  I'm here with a card that I made based on the current challenges at Retro Sketches #115 and Seize the birthday: May Flowers.

So here is my card:

Super easy and quick.  I heat embossed the birthday sentiment (Hero Arts) on a piece of vellum, cut a fish tail edge at the bottom then adhered the piece onto a patterned paper background (Crate paper), then added some pearls around the sentiment.

I've always liked floral background but find it's hard to use as it's quite busy.  But by adding a piece of vellum on top, it gives you that focal point without covering the beautiful pattern,  I quite like the result.

Anyway, hope you like it.  Have a lovely day.

Thinking of you cards

Hello everyone!  Today I'm going to share with you a few cards that I made combining the sketch that provided by CAS(E) this Sketch#76 , Addicted to CAS#38- off the edge, and the colour combo by Colour Me#20.

I love this sketch, and the moment I saw the three little elements on the right corner, I knew I was going to use sequins.  And I'm a big blue/turquoise/teal fan, but I'd never actually put blue and yellow together, and this colour combo is so striking and beautiful that I thought I'd like to give it a go.  So here is my card based on these two inspirations.

Here's a closer look.

The flower stamps are from Hero Arts, one of their older sets, I heat embossed them onto some navy blue card stock and cut them out.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted, and the mustardy yellow background is a sheet of patterned paper from Crete Paper.  Totally fell in love with the colours.  So I went ahead and made a few more.

Hope you like them.  I'm going to submit my first card to these two challenges.  Have a good day!

Blessed

Hello!  Today I'm sharing with you a few cards that I made using SSS Blessed stamp set and two feather dies.  I'm in love with these stamps and dies and I've made quite a lots of cards with them.  And I also would like to submit my first card to this week's SSS Wednesday challenge 'Die Crazy' to feature one of Simon's products.

Here are a few more cards using the same water colour technique.

That's all for today.  Thank you for stopping by.

Watercolour background - 3 shades of green

Hi all.  Today I'm sharing with you a quick card using a Simon says stamp 'Blessed' set on a very simple watercolour background.

My colour inspiration for this card is from the latest Runway Challenge, I think the dress is gorgeous, it's very simple yet very striking.  I just love it.

So I used yellow, lime green and tea green these three colours to create this very simple but organic-looking background to mimic the floaty dress, and stamped my sentiment in black.

Also over at the CAS-ual Fridays, the latest challenge is ' Three Thirds'.  There are lots of 3s on my card:  I used 3 colours, the main focal point is 1/3 of the card, the sentiment is 3 lines, and even the gems are 3, lol.  So I'll submit my card to that challenge as well.

Do play along and have some fun!

Wishing you brighter days

I've used this stamp set by Clearly Besotted again and again and have created lots of cards with it, but this set is still my favourite so far and I just LOVE it to bits.  The red umbrella looks particularly pretty on kraft cardstock, but I've run out mine, so here is a plain cream card base.  The good thing about using cream or white background is that I can stamp the rain drops in pale blue, but on kraft base, it just doesn't look right.  I added some glossy accent on the drops, and coloured the umbrella with some markers.  So pretty.

Watercolour and feather background

Hello peeps,  today I'm sharing with you two cards that I made last night using SSS Blessed stamp set and feather dies.

The first card is super quick and easy to make, no need to explain, and I'd like to submit this card to the current Addicted to CAS#38-off the edge challenge.

For the second card here, I squeezed some blue ink onto my acrylic block, and added lots of water to it, and pressed the block onto my card then gently lifted it up after a few  seconds to create this organic-looking background.  I always admire people who can create watercolour background just with their paint brushes, I can't, this is a cheat, but I'm happy with the result.

Have a good day!

CAS(E) this sketch #74

Yepee!  Time for another CAS(E) this sketch challenge!  Today I'm sharing with you a super simple card that based on this sketch:

Here's my card.

Lots of stamping, super easy to create.  I used different small flower stamps from a few different sets, and pulled out some spring colours' inks to match the theme.  Hope you like it.

Stitched vellum card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing with you a card that I made using a stamp set from SSS called 'Blessed'.  I love this set, Kristina's handwriting is just gorgeous, and as a Christian, I've been looking for these kind of stamps for ages, and I'm really excited that I finally bought it from SSS store.

I stamped the message onto a piece of vellum and I used some glue to adhere the vellum piece onto my pattered paper base.  I knew I would mess it up because the glue would show through and it did.  Gutted!  Well I would never remake a card, besides I love the pattered paper so much and I didn't want to threw it away, so I pierced some holes with a needle and thread through these holes with some normal thread to look like stitches.  That took a long time, my cardstock is quite thick, and plus the paper and vellum and the glue in between.

Finally I added some pearls to add some more interest.  That's my card done.

I'll submit this card to Virginia's View Challenge #3 Stitching;
The Card Concept #9 Monochromatic Purple clean and simple

Hope you like it, do play along and have some fun!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome baby dinosaur

Hello!  Today I'm here with a card featuring Lawn Fawn's stamp set 'Critters from the past'.  I used an egg stamp and a little baby dinosaur stamp as well as the 'rawr' stamp from the set, and I coloured the images in with some markers.  The sentiment stamp is from Paper Smooches 'A little lovin', one of my favourite stamp sets.

Here is the photo.

The colour combo inspiration is from Make the Day Special this month's challenge.  I chose the turquoise, grey and orange colours.

Also over at CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog, the theme is Three Thirds.

Since the main colours of the card are turquoise, grey and orange, and the focal point takes only 1/3 of the card front, I'll submit my card to the challenge as well.

I'm playing along the current Cure for the Monday Blues challenge, the photo speaks new baby to me, the soft colours are just adorable.
Last but not least, SSS Wednesday challenge this week is all about Lawn Fawn products, so I'd like to play along, too.

Do join in these challenges and have fun!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
